    INTERNAL QUALITY CONTROL

    • Quality department with Elafood specialised internal personnel
    • Rigorous and strict control of all the Elafood suppliers
    • Quality control plan which includes periodical inspections and controls in the production and processing plants as well as laboratory tests carried out specifically on all the fished products of all the productions and supplies.
    • Weekly traceability reports with the fished products from all the productions and supplies.
    • Adopting the highest standards of product quality control and traceability.

    Elafood carries out independent laboratory tests on the fished products during the various seasons.

    The samples are taken and analysed to check:

    • presence of proteins and heavy metals
    • absence of: genetically modified organisms; growth hormones/stimulators; chemical or pharmacological treatment; flour and fat coming from marine animals
    • levels of residues (pesticides, dioxin, …)

    DIRECT CONTROL OF THE SUPPLIERS

    • Regular inspections in the structures and on the suppliers’ systems to assess the efficacy of the quality systems with respect to the supply chain standards connected to the processing stages: purchasing, storage, selecting, packing, labelling, transport.
    • Retaining records for the traceability programme.
    • Regular inspections and controls with the shippers on all the aspects and stages of the supply: road transport and delivery on pallets, labelling (with relevant production code for traceability of supply source), packing, level of refrigeration, document control, recording delivery programme.

    EXCELLENCE IN THE INTERNATIONAL LOGISTIC PROCESSES

    Once the products have been delivered to the shippers, a control is performed on the promptness of receipt, of the storage, of the refrigeration temperatures as well as on the suitability of the transport vehicles.
